When a brand is built on thoughtful experiences and conscious living, its physical space needs to speak the same language. That’s exactly what The Modelist, a boutique purveyor of mindful products and creative moments in the heart of Somerset West, set out to achieve, and they called on Aura Building & Design Concepts to help bring their vision to life.
From the start, this was more than a shop fitting. It was a collaborative process rooted in intention, care, and design excellence. Through multiple consultations and detailed sample reviews, we worked closely with The Modelist to refine the aesthetic identity of their space, establishing a custom colour palette and materials selection that reflected the soul of their brand.
The result? A space that is both warm and minimal, designed for function, flexibility, and beauty.
Tailored Craftsmanship, Thoughtful Detail
Aura created two large custom counters as anchor pieces for the shop; bold yet refined focal points that support both retail and experiential needs. We also crafted a modular couch system that comfortably seats 20 to 30 people, allowing for a variety of flexible seating configurations ideal for events, workshops, or casual gatherings.
Beyond the major furnishings, Aura also handled all interior fixtures and finishes – from the elegant arches and curated shelving, to statement mirrors and subtle detailing throughout. Every piece was designed and placed with purpose, supporting both the visual harmony and flow of the space.
A Natural Finish
In keeping with The Modelist’s ethos of sustainability and natural materials, all woodwork was treated with Rubio Monocoat wood oil – a premium, plant-based product that not only protects the timber but also feeds the wood, enhancing its natural grain and beauty without harmful chemicals.
A Space That Reflects the Brand
Aura’s involvement extended beyond fabrication. We were hands-on in developing the shop layout, ensuring the space would function as beautifully as it looks. The result is a calm, curated interior that mirrors the thoughtful, conscious brand The Modelist has become known for.
